So, I’m watching the general New Year’s Eve crap on New Year’s Eve (why were all of the bands rap or R&B except for about 3? What the fuck? Anyway…), and they introduce some really untalented bitch as “the princess of crunk.”<\/p>\n
So I go, “what the fuck is crunk?” I found out, courtesy of Sarah, my girlfriend’s roommate, that it’s short for “crazy drunk.” It started off as the state of being very drunk, became “hey, lets go get crunk!” and then eventually became a synonym for “cool” – “hey, that’s crunk!” Thankfully, Sarah is not one of these rejects. Though, that might have been an amusing argument. =)<\/p>\n
Apparently, there’s lots of rap and r&b artists out there now that carry around these big fucking goblets\/chalices that are bejeweled. Ya know, because that’s crunk.<\/p>\n

Then, today in the gym, on mtvU, they apparently had some sort of special on this. There was not enough volume for me to hear the words, but they were at some late-middle-aged woman’s home who had dozens and dozens of bejeweled mugs with various rapper phrases in diamonds and shit on them. And then they showed clips of various stars holding the God-awful things. Assumably, she makes these for the retarded stars?<\/p>\n
I think kids have enough influences telling them to go get fucked up, do they really need their favorite artist (though, I question their taste) pushing how cool it is not just to drink, but to be “crazy drunk?” What’s next, artists walking around with syringes coming out of their arms?<\/p>\n
(Random side note, I find it perplexing Lynn and Sarah have never heard of “booty dancing” but have heard of “crunk.” Go figure. Anyway.)<\/p>\n
I hereby decree that the use of the word “crunk” in any setting outside of making fun of it, making fun of people who use it, or discussing the word itself, is a display of complete ignorance. Using the word in casual speech shows the speaker to be uneducated, moronic, easily given to very bad fads, and incapable of thinking on their own.<\/p>\n
I swear, if I walk by one freshman (hell, any student) saying “we need to get crunk tonight” on campus, I will beat them severely.<\/p>\n
