So here is an article<\/a>. High school students increasingly don’t believe First Amendment rights are a big deal.<\/p>\n

I nearly cried when I read that. I sat, open-mouthed, staring at my screen. For the first time in my life, I was speechless. It took a day before I was even prepared to blog about it. And I still don’t know what to so. Here’s a choice quote, “Only half of the students said newspapers should be allowed to publish freely without government approval of stories<\/b>.” WHAT?!<\/p>\n

Have they really won? Have they brainwashed the next generation already? Only 83 percent of students felt that you should be able to express unpopular views – compared with 97 percent of parents and 99 percent of principals!<\/p>\n

The study showed students given opportunities to be involved in school newspapers and other media are significantly more likely to defend First Amendment rights – but many schools have cut such programs.<\/p>\n

So please – someone please<\/b> tell me why the Secretary of Education is more worried about a lesbian couple on TV<\/a> than this?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
