I think I’m a pretty logical and intelligent guy. I can understand most things. But I seem to have gotten lost somewhere in the recent events. So the hurricane hits, right? OK, I got that. Makes sense. Next, everything gets wiped out. I’m still with the situation at this point. Between the category 5 hurricane and the fact these people live below sea level, this is logical.

OK, next up, our chimpanzee of a president among others take 4 days to get help to New Orleans and people are living in deplorable conditions. While pathetic, this doesn’t surprise me – it’s typical of our government – and I’m still following along.

And then… of course, the next logical step. It makes perfect sense: people rape, burn, and pillage. That makes sense, right? That’s what you’d do if you’re home was demolished and you were stuck in a confined space with no food or water with thousands of people, right? You’d fuck someone! I mean, it’s only natural. That’s how we work, right: tragedy, then rape! That’d be my reaction, I’m sure.

No! What the fuck?! How do people go from “my home is gone” to “lets violate women and burn shit down!”? That’s not how it works – that’s not right! Seriously, what the fuck is up with that?

There’s been raping, pillaging, burning buildings and even shooting at relief workers. The explanations that have so far been offered to me are as follows: (1) Extreme stress, (2) Large percentage of the population below the poverty line, and (3) it was four days without food or water.

Really? Well, lets look at this, shall we? Extreme stress. Well, I don’t recall mass raping reported among soldiers at war – even in Vietnam, I don’t recall my text book listing that among the top side effects (which isn’t to say it didn’t happen, it did, but we’re talking proportions here). OK, well what about being poor? Well, I may not like bums asking me for money, but I don’t ever recall having one, much less a lot of them, try to fuck me or anyone I know.

Well, then it must be the fact it was four days without food or water, right? Interesting, because there’s starving people all over the world. I’ve read quite a few stories about the problems in Samalia, but mass raping and pillaging isn’t near the top of the list last time I checked! They’re hungry, thirsty, poor, and extremely stressed.

Well, maybe this one is just beyond my grasp.

I think everyone knows all that’s happened in New Orleans is tragic, and I’m not going to be retarded enough to waste your valuable time blabbing about that.
