It started as a lark but has become quite the tradition.

As 2008 draws to a close, I decided I needed to pick the top 5 ladies from this year’s lists. Before I went back and grabbed the list, I decided on a few basic rules to make things simple. No one I know in real life qualifies. This turned out not to be a problem this year, but occasionally people I know make it on the list. Second, no one who also appeared on one of my lists prior to 2008 would qualify. Finally, anyone who was added to the list due to their appearance prior to 2008 (i.e. I watched an old movie or TV show) would not qualify. This, again, knocked one more candidate from the list.

I had very few letters of the month this year due to my moving and traveling. However, most of the lists were longer than average, giving us a solid 10 contestants to start with. The initial list of candidates, in no particular order, was as follows:

Deanna Russo

Jennifer Morrison

Summer Glau

Jessica Alba

Charlize Theron

Danneel Harris

Kristen Bell

Mila Kunis

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Kathleen Kinmont

Sarah Michelle Gellar did not qualify due to being included in my list back in ’99. Kathleen Kinmont was included in the monthly list due to a role she played in the early ’90s thus disqualifying her. This left 8 possibilities.

It was an arduous task, but yours truly narrowed it down! In order from 5th place to 1st place, here are my picks:

5. Jennifer Morrison
4. Mila Kunis
3. Deanna Russo
2. Charlize Theron

And, the number 1 babe of the year…

1. Summer Glau

If any of these names are not familiar to you, click the link to head to their IMDB page and check out their work and their looks.

Happy New Year to you all!

As some of you may know, as part of my “Letters of the Month” over at IPOM, I have a “Babes of the Month” list.
